Welch Allyn PanOptic Ophthalmoscope provides fast, easy entry into small undilated pupils. PanOptic gives you a 5x larger view of the fundus than with a standard ophthalmoscope and a staggering 25 degree Field of View, versus the 5 degree FOV of standard ophthalmoscope. The Welch Allyn Panoptic offers a 26% increase in magnification, making it easier to see retinal details. The unique design of the Welch Allyn PanOptic allows for a greater working distance between the practitioner and patient, improving comfort for both.

The Welch Allyn PanOptic Ophthalmoscope is a breakthrough concept in Ophthalmoscopy thanks to an innovative, proprietary optical design known as Axial Point Source Optics. By converging the illumination to a point on the cornea, Welch Allyn's Axial PointSource Optics allows easy entry into the smallest of pupils. The illumination pathway can than diverge to the retina, creating a very wide illuminated area of the fundus.

Simultaneously, PanOptic's unique viewing system allows you to see the illuminated area on virtually the same axis, creating one of the widest fields of view attainable in undilated ophthalmoscopy. With the Pan Optic Ophthalmoscope, you are actually viewing the fundus through the mirror that directs illumination into the eye, maximizing the alignment of the viewing axis with the illuminated area. Welch Allyn's PanOptic Ophthalmoscope provides a dramatic difference you can see right away, which translates into easier, more complete funduscopic exams.

PanOptic utilizes HPX Halogen illumination, and Welch Allyn's patented Glare Extinguishment System prevents interference from unwanted glare and reflections.

The PanOptic Ophthalmoscope has a range of -20 to +20 diopters via a Dynamic Focusing Wheel which provides continuous, smooth action for more precise control and optimum view.

In addition to standard micro spot, small spot, large spot, slit apertures and red-free filter, this Welch Allyn 11820 PanOptic Ophthalmoscope features a cobalt blue filter and includes the magnifying Corneal Viewing Lens for cornea examinations (Woods/Black Light surrogate).

The Optional Welch Allyn Lithium-Ion Power handle (pictured above) delivers twice the "on-time" (110 minutes) of a standard battery handle and weighs only half as much. In addition, the Lithium Ion Handle will not develop memory, which can happen with Ni-Cad batteries. The Welch Allyn Lithium Ion handle is especially well suited for use with the PanOptic Ophthalmoscope.
