Ocular Hoskins Nylon Suture Lens
Ocular's Hoskins Nylon Suture Laser Lens is used to sever subconjunctival nylon sutures in post-operative situations such as trabeculectomy flap sutures that are too tight to allow filtration and cataract wound sutures causing astigmatism. The Hoskins Nylon Suture Lens compresses the overlying conjunctival vessels allowing sharp visualization and laser cutting of sutures. Technique: 1. The patient is seated at the laser slit lamp with eye anesthetized. 2. Lids are separated with the free hand when necessary. 3. The lens is placed firmly over the suture until clearly visualized. 4. The laser is finely focused and the suture is cut with one or two applications of a 50 to 100 micron spot size at 600 to 1000 milliwatts at 0.1 seconds with the argon laser. The 3mm diameter glass button centered in the flange has a broad band anti-reflective coating for either argon or diode laser. However, the OHSA lens should not be used with the Nd:YAG Laser.
